American Heritage Streetcar

American Heritage Streetcar

American Heritage Streetcars have a very special appeal, reminding tourists and residents alike of beloved times gone by—an early 20th Century vision of simpler pleasures and life in a slower lane.

Quality

The American Heritage Streetcar re-creates the look and feel of an authentic, turn-of-the-century streetcar.  Our quality craftsmanship is apparent in the hand-finished Philippine mahogany seats and spiraled brass stanchions.  The large windows allow for maximum viewing and are trimmed in the same rich mahogany as are the exterior side panels.  The exterior mounted bell, optional fare box and genuine leather hand straps add finishing touches of quality and authenticity.

Comfort

Inside the fully enclosed streetcar you will find an extra-large capacity air-conditioning system cools summertime passengers, while a new and improved heating system invites winter riders to come in from the cold.  Heavy-duty insulation keeps the temperature constant and road noise to a minimum.  Seating for 28 passengers in the trolley provides comfort and a smooth ride over an air-ride suspension with four air springs per axle.

Accessibility

Two operator-controlled, double-panel doors provide easy access from front and rear.  The American Heritage Streetcar is fully wheelchair accessible with a passive wheelchair step lift and tie-down restraints.

Durability

Not only will the nostalgic appeal of the American Heritage Streetcar withstand the test of time, it’s also Altoona-tested and rated for a 12-year service life, so you can be sure it will stand up to the demands of all-year transit use for many profitable years.  The “Transit Tough” chassis is the most durable in the industry, and is far superior to the lighter “truck/motor home” chassis you’ll find under most competitive models.

Streetcar Facts:

  • The American Heritage Streetcar is the only streetcar with a heavy-duty transit chassis built to stand up to the stress of daily use, unlike the “truck/motor home” chassis found on competitor’s models.
  • Low maintenance and operating costs – combined with a proven service life of 12-15 years – keep actual Life Cycle Costs the lowest in the industry.
  • Altoona-tested and rated for a 12-year service life; exceeding all requirements (Diesel, CNG, LPG).
